presenting

At the heart of what we do : Graphics Culture Week

Les Rencontres de Lure : a week-long series of presentations held annually at the end of August in the beautiful Provence village of Lurs. During the Lurs week around thirty men and women (professionals, teachers, students…) present their work and/or their research.

Each year contributors are invited to follow a theme chosen by the association’s committee and membership. These themes are intended to be thought-provoking and relevant to contemporary developments in the world of typography and beyond. As the week unfolds, various aspects of the year’s theme are examined and discussed.

Every Graphics Culture week has its own theme…

Each autumn, the Rencontres Committee starts the process of establishing next year’s theme. Dealing with contemporary issues of course invariably leads to a pluridisciplinary approach.

Examples of previous years’ themes include : Portrait or landscape ?, Etching and sketching, artwork in progress, Enthusiasts, take note !, New faces of the written form
Here is a more extensive list of previous summer weeks in Lurs : here.
